⚙ Under the hood

Fly a thruster-driven survey probe through a drifting rock field: every rock's time and distance of closest approach is predicted from relative motion, the cheapest avoidance burn is planned, and each burn is paid for with propellant via the Tsiolkovsky rocket equation. Experiments measure dodge delta-v against the finite-burn formula, the engine against the rocket equation, and the minimum warning time of chemical, cold-gas and ion engines.
