Solar Sail Asteroid Deflection: Slow-Push Radiation Pressure (2D)

A 2D top-down companion to the solar sail asteroid deflection simulator: steer continuous radiation pressure on a sail-equipped near-Earth asteroid and watch the orbit drift and projected Earth miss-distance change live.

This 2D top-down companion runs the same slow-push planetary-defense model as the 3D version: a reflective sail bonded to a hazardous near-Earth asteroid steers continuous solar radiation pressure to reshape its orbit years before a predicted Earth encounter. Adjust sail area, reflectivity, asteroid size and the sail's steering (cone) angle, choose whether the tangential thrust pushes posigrade or retrograde, and watch the physically-grounded force law drive a live-integrated semi-major-axis drift and a projected miss-distance shift at the encounter, plotted on a top-down orbit view against a static 1 AU Earth reference.
