Airlock Pressure Equalization Cycle (2D)

Interactive 2D airlock cutaway simulator: cycle the chamber between habitat pressure and vacuum, tune valve conductance and pump-back recovery, and watch pressure decay on a real exponential curve on a live pressure-vs-time strip chart.

This simulator models the pressure inside a spacecraft or space-station airlock as it cycles between habitat pressure and vacuum for crew EVA egress and ingress. Chamber pressure follows a real exponential relaxation curve set by valve conductance and the target pressure on either side, exactly the "fluid RC circuit" approximation engineers use to size airlock valves. A 2D cutaway view (drag to tilt) shows a simulated air-molecule field thinning out as gas vents to space, or filling back in during repressurization, while a live strip chart plots pressure against time alongside readouts for chamber pressure, elapsed cycle time, and — with pump-back recovery toggled on or off — how much gas is lost overboard versus captured back into the habitat's air-storage tank, the same trade every real airlock design has to make.

⚙ Under the hood

Cycle a spacecraft airlock between habitat pressure and vacuum for EVA egress and ingress on a 2D cutaway view, tuning valve conductance and pump-back gas recovery while a live strip chart plots the real exponential pressure-decay curve.
