Multicultural Crew Food Garden (2D)
Interactive 2D bioregenerative life-support garden: allocate a fixed 60 m² grow-chamber budget across wheat, soy, greens, sweet potato and insect protein, watch logistic crop growth fill the grid, and compare total nutrition against cultural food-diversity satisfaction on a live Pareto-front chart.
This 2D counterpart models the same fixed-budget, multi-crop resource-allocation problem as the 3D habitat-ring version, drawn as a grow-chamber grid instead of a rotating ring. Sixty square meters of tray space is split across wheat, soy, leafy greens, sweet potato and insect protein — each with its own growth rate, nutrition-per-area yield and crew cultural-preference weight — and the allocation is renormalized every frame so it always sums to exactly 60 m², no matter how the five sliders are set. Each crop grows independently along a logistic curve toward its own area-scaled capacity, and the live readouts track total nutritional output against a cultural-satisfaction score that is deliberately penalized whenever a culturally-important staple gets zero area, with a Pareto-style scatter chart showing where your current allocation sits against hundreds of sampled alternatives — including the nutrition-maximizing monoculture and the cultural-maximizing even split.
Allocate a rotating habitat's 60 m² bioregenerative garden across wheat, soy, greens, sweet potato and insect protein, and watch total caloric coverage, cultural/religious dietary equity across the crew, and the O2/respiration balance respond in real time.
