☢️ Radiation Shield Material Lab (2D)
2D side-view lab: fire simulated galactic cosmic rays through a shielding wall and pick the material — aluminium fragments high-energy nuclei into a secondary neutron/gamma shower whose dose can rise with more shielding, while hydrogen-rich polyethylene slows particles cleanly with dose that only ever falls.
This 2D companion drives the same spallation/absorption dose model as the 3D Radiation Shield Material Lab, but drawn as a flat side view instead of an orbitable scene: primaries drift in from the left, strike a shaded shield band whose thickness and material you control, and either stop cleanly, fragment into a fan of secondary neutrons and gammas, or punch straight through into the crew zone on the right. A live dose-vs-thickness chart plots both materials' curves side by side, so you can watch aluminium's non-monotonic rise-then-fall against polyethylene's dose that only ever drops as thickness increases.
