🧪 Exoplanet Transit — Light Curve Lab (2D)
2D transit-photometry lab: a phase-folded light curve computed from real disk-overlap integration with quadratic limb darkening, driven by semi-major axis, planet/star radius ratio and impact parameter — the same maths orbiting telescopes like Kepler and TESS use to find exoplanets.
This 2D companion turns the 3D exoplanet-transit scene into an instrument panel built for reading the physics: a sky-plane strip shows the star's limb-darkened disk with the planet's silhouette crossing it, a top-down orbit inset shows the same pass from above — flattening toward a line as the impact parameter drops toward zero, since a perfectly central transit means the orbit is edge-on to Earth — and a phase-folded light curve fills in every orbit from a real disk-overlap integral rather than a canned curve, so dragging the semi-major axis, the planet/star radius ratio or the impact parameter visibly reshapes the depth, duration and V- vs. flat-bottomed profile of the dip in real time.
