🧪 Svalbard Arctic Wildlife Simulator (2D)
A top-down Canvas2D companion to the 3D scene: polar bears actively hunt the nearest ringed seal across the same sea-ice crack formula that shapes the 3D terrain, foxes forage between waypoints, and kittiwakes circle overhead — with live weather, time-of-day and a running hunt counter.
This 2D companion keeps the same predator-prey logic as the 3D Svalbard Arctic Wildlife Simulator but renders it from directly overhead on a plain canvas: each polar bear scans every ringed seal, locks onto the nearest one once it is within range, and closes the final distance faster once it gets close — a real catch relocates the seal and ticks up the hunt counter in the readout panel, the same steering and catch logic that drives the 3D scene. The ice/water pattern beneath the animals is drawn from the identical crack formula used to sculpt the 3D terrain, so the open-water leads line up with the original. Foxes forage between random waypoints, kittiwakes circle on a fixed orbit, and a weather select, time-of-day slider and sim-speed control let you push the pack through blizzards, polar night or fast-forwarded days while watching who actually catches who.
2D top-down Canvas companion: bears run a real nearest-seal pursuit-and-catch loop (with a live hunt counter), the ice/water layout is sampled from the same crack formula as the 3D scene, and weather/time-of-day/sim-speed controls drive visible behavioural changes.
