Supernova: Core Collapse to Remnant (2D)

2D core-collapse supernova simulator: trigger collapse once core mass exceeds the Chandrasekhar limit, watch the shock transition from free expansion to the Sedov-Taylor R∝t^(2/5) phase, and follow a Ni-56/Co-56 radioactive-decay light curve with live luminosity, photosphere temperature and shock radius.

This 2D companion models a core-collapse supernova end to end: an iron core that only implodes once it exceeds the Chandrasekhar limit (≈1.44 M☉), a shock that coasts through free expansion at constant velocity before decelerating into the self-similar Sedov–Taylor phase (radius growing as the classic t2/5 power law once swept-up circumstellar mass equals the ejecta mass), and a bolometric light curve shaped by a rapid rise followed by a radioactive-decay tail from the ⁵⁶Ni→⁵⁶Co→⁵⁶Fe chain. The shock's colour cools from blue-white toward red as it expands, and live readouts track elapsed time, shock radius and velocity, photosphere temperature, and luminosity.

⚙ Under the hood

Trigger core collapse once the iron core exceeds the Chandrasekhar limit and watch the shock transition from constant-velocity free expansion to the self-similar Sedov-Taylor phase (radius growing as t^0.4), while a Ni-56/Co-56 radioactive-decay light curve tracks luminosity, photosphere temperature, shock radius and velocity in real time.
