Guitar String Harmonics Simulator (2D)

Interactive 2D guitar-string harmonics simulator: pluck a vibrating string, pick a harmonic or fret/touch position, and watch the standing wave's nodes and antinodes with live frequency readouts from f_n = n·v/(2L).

This 2D simulator draws a plucked guitar string from the side and animates the standing wave that forms on it: pick a harmonic number or drag the touch/fret slider to a node, then pluck to hear which mode rings. Nodes (motionless points) and antinodes (points of maximum swing) are marked live, and the readout panel computes the wave speed v = √(T/μ), the fundamental frequency f₁, the frequency f_n = n·v/(2L) of the selected harmonic, and its wavelength λ_n = 2L/n straight from the string length, tension and linear density sliders.

⚙ Under the hood

Pluck a guitar string, pick a harmonic or touch/fret position, and watch the standing wave's nodes and antinodes with live frequency readouts computed from f_n = n·v/(2L).
