Mine Gas Evacuation Simulator
Compare a gas-monitoring autonomous haul truck that senses rising methane / oxygen-depletion and retreats to safety before danger, against a blind truck with no gas sensing that drives straight into the same invisible pocket.
Two autonomous haul trucks shuttle the same underground tunnel route while a randomly-positioned, randomly-timed gas pocket forms and disperses along the way. The sensor-equipped truck watches its live gas reading and retreats to a safe zone the moment it crosses a caution threshold, well before the pocket becomes dangerous. The unmonitored truck has no way to know the pocket is there and drives straight through it every time, racking up cumulative gas exposure. Run it repeatedly to build a session tally of hazards avoided versus exposure incidents.
Compare a gas-monitoring autonomous haul truck that senses rising methane/black-damp concentration and retreats to a safe zone before danger, against a blind truck with no gas sensing that drives straight into the same invisible pocket. Randomize the gas pocket's position and timing and watch the session tally of hazards avoided versus exposure incidents grow.
