The Higgs mechanism explains why particles have mass at all: the Higgs field fills space with a non-zero vacuum value, and any particle whose own field couples to it feels a drag proportional to that coupling — the stronger the coupling, the heavier the particle behaves. This simulator visualizes the mechanism directly as a lattice of field oscillators. Launch a test particle with a tunable Yukawa coupling and watch how hard the field resists it, compare it against a stream of ambient particles spanning massless to heavy, and adjust the field's vacuum expectation value to see every coupled mass scale together. A quantum of the field's own vibration — the physical Higgs boson — appears as a ripple propagating through the lattice itself, independent of any particle passing through.
