Quark Flavor Mixing 2D: CKM Matrix & Weak Decay
Interactive 2D CKM-matrix simulator: fire weak decays of down-type quarks into up-type quarks with W boson emission, sampled from real |V_ij|² transition probabilities, and watch the running statistics converge on the Standard Model's quark-mixing matrix on a pannable, zoomable diagram.
The Standard Model's weak force doesn't just push particles around — it changes what they *are*. This 2D simulator lets you trigger real weak-decay events in which a down-type quark (d, s or b) emits a W⁻ boson and converts into an up-type quark (u, c or t), with the outcome sampled from the actual squared magnitudes of the CKM quark-mixing matrix. Fire single decays or set a continuous rate, watch a running histogram converge on the predicted |Vij|² branching probabilities, pan and zoom the diagram itself, and toggle a 2D bar chart of the matrix — complete with live measured-fraction ticks — to see why quarks overwhelmingly — but not exclusively — decay within their own generation.
Fire real weak-decay events in which a down-type quark emits a W⁻ boson and converts into an up-type quark, sampled from the Standard Model's CKM matrix, on a pannable, zoomable 2D diagram with a live bar chart comparing measured branching ratios against the predicted |V_ij|² probabilities.
