Quantum Tunneling: Wavepacket vs. Potential Barrier (2D)
A 2D companion that numerically solves the time-dependent Schrodinger equation for a real Gaussian wavepacket hitting a rectangular potential barrier, comparing the measured transmission probability against the exact analytic formula.
This 2D companion drives real physics rather than the 3D scene's decorative shader dashboard: the wavefunction is propagated directly on a grid via the time-dependent Schrodinger equation (Visscher's leapfrog scheme), so the probability density you see hitting the barrier is a genuine numerical solution, not a scripted animation.
A Gaussian wavepacket is evolved on a 380-point grid via finite-difference integration of the Schrodinger equation, then measured against a rectangular barrier's exact analytic transmission coefficient.
