Plasma Ball – Streamer Growth Model (2D)

A top-down 2D take on the plasma globe: filaments grow from the central electrode toward the glass using a dielectric-breakdown streamer model, steered by voltage, drive frequency, fill gas — and by touching the surface.

This 2D companion swaps the 3D scene's orbiting camera for a straight-on view of the discharge itself: filaments grow from the electrode outward using a simplified dielectric-breakdown (streamer) model, with voltage widening their random-walk jitter and drive frequency controlling how often they jump to a fresh path — and touching the glass bends nearby filaments toward your finger, the same capacitive effect a real plasma ball shows.

⚙ Under the hood

Streamer-growth model: filaments random-walk from a central electrode to the glass, voltage sets jitter amplitude and filament count, frequency sets re-targeting rate, and a touch point attracts nearby filaments toward it.
