Plasma Ball (2D)
2D plasma-globe lab: a concentric-sphere capacitor field drives dielectric-breakdown streamers from the core to the glass. Tune voltage, drive frequency and gas pressure, then touch the sphere to pull a streamer to your fingertip.
This 2D companion swaps the 3D version's orbiting Three.js scene for a plain top-down canvas built to read the physics rather than the decoration: a concentric-sphere capacitor formula computes the field driving each streamer, the core voltage slider changes both how many filaments are alive at once and how bright the surface field reads on the live panel, the gas-pressure slider changes how far each filament wanders between "collisions" (lower pressure — a longer mean free path — makes the discharge thinner and more erratic, exactly the range a real plasma globe runs at), and touching or dragging on the glass pulls the nearest streamer toward your fingertip, reproducing the party-trick capacitive-coupling effect of a real plasma ball instead of just animating it.
