Mine Gas Monitoring Simulation (2D)

Interactive 2D mine-ventilation lab: an advection-diffusion model tracks methane spreading down a 300 m drift from the coal face to the return airway, with a ventilation-speed-dependent roof-layering effect and an automatic %LEL alarm interlock.

This 2D canvas simulation models methane transport down an underground drift with a real 1D advection-diffusion equation instead of a decorative particle flythrough: gas emitted at the coal face is carried toward the return airway by the ventilation fan and spread by turbulent mixing, sensors at the face, mid-drift and return report live %CH₄ and %LEL, a roof-layer sensor shows how low air velocity lets methane stratify near the back instead of diluting, and an automatic interlock boosts the fan and locks an alarm banner on screen the moment any reading crosses your chosen %LEL threshold. A "trigger gas outburst" button injects a short burst of high-rate emission so you can watch the safety margin collapse and recover in real time.
