Trajectory Calculation Simulator (2D)

Compute projectile trajectories from launch angle, velocity and drag on a flat range chart: watch the ballistic arc form in real time, compare it against the ideal vacuum parabola, and read off the exact range, apex, flight time and impact speed.

This 2D companion steps the same drag-and-crosswind equations of motion as the 3D version — gravity, quadratic air drag opposing velocity, and a steady lateral wind — but reads them off a flat range chart instead of an orbitable scene: a side panel exposes launch angle, muzzle velocity, drag coefficient and crosswind, the dashed grey curve is the ideal vacuum parabola for direct comparison, and the shell's trail shifts colour as it picks up crosswind drift, so the sideways deflection the 3D camera would show from an angle is visible here as a straightforward colour gradient along the arc. Fire, watch the arc settle, then flip the vacuum overlay on to see exactly how much distance and height drag costs the shot.

⚙ Under the hood

2D ballistic-arc plotter: numerically integrates gravity, quadratic drag and crosswind frame-by-frame (no closed-form solution exists once drag is non-zero), with a live vacuum-parabola overlay and range/apex/time-of-flight/impact-speed readouts.
