This 2D companion drives the same drag-augmented projectile physics as the 3D version — quadratic aerodynamic drag opposing a semi-implicit Euler integration — through a flat side-on range view, and adds a constant horizontal wind term the 3D scene does not model, so a tailwind visibly stretches the range while a headwind shortens it. The view auto-zooms to fit the longest and highest shot fired so far, keeping up to six trails comparable at a glance.
