Magnus Effect Simulator (2D)

Interactive 2D bird's-eye simulator: fire a spinning ball through an airflow and watch the Magnus force curve its path in real time, driven by real F = S(ω×v) physics.

This bird's-eye 2D simulator fires a spinning regulation football down a steady airflow and traces the curving path produced by the Magnus force, computed from the real relation F = S(ω×v): the faster the ball spins relative to its forward speed, the larger the dimensionless spin parameter ωr/v, the higher the lift coefficient, and the sharper the sideways curl. Adjust airflow speed and spin rate independently, flip the spin direction to curl the other way, and watch the live readout track spin parameter, lift coefficient, Magnus force and total lateral deflection as the ball flies.

⚙ Under the hood

Fire a spinning football down a steady airflow in this bird's-eye 2D simulator and watch the real Magnus force F = S(ω×v) curl its path sideways as spin rate and airflow speed change.
