2D Bioluminescent Waves: Breaking Crests & Glowing Shoreline
2D top-down simulation of bioluminescent breaking waves: procedural swell shoals and breaks against a sandy shore, lighting cyan-green with disturbed plankton, while clicking the water adds extra glowing ripples.
This is the flat, top-down companion to the 3D bioluminescent waves simulator. Instead of an orbitable 3D shoreline, it looks straight down on the water: offshore swell rolls in from the top of the frame, shoals and steepens as it nears the sandy beach at the bottom, and breaks into a bright cyan-green crest wherever the shear on the disturbed plankton is strongest. Click or drag anywhere on the water to add extra glowing ripples on top of the natural wave-breaking light show, and adjust wave strength, plankton brightness, glow color and moonlight to see the shoreline respond.
