Acid Mine Drainage & Lime Neutralization: pH Recovery Lab (2D)
2D acid-mine-drainage reactor: real pyrite-oxidation kinetics, Ksp-based metal-hydroxide solubility and lime neutralization chemistry drive a live pH-vs-time chart and dissolved-metal readout.
This 2D companion drives the same acid-mine-drainage chemistry as the 3D process view through a plain reactor diagram built for reading the chemistry rather than touring a facility: pyrite oxidizes on a first-order decay to release acid and Fe2+, aeration converts part of that Fe2+ to the far less soluble Fe3+, and a continuous lime dose neutralizes the acid — while a live pH-vs-time chart and a log-scale dissolved-metal chart show iron dropping out of solution the instant pH crosses its hydroxide's solubility ceiling, the same staged Ksp-driven precipitation a real neutralization pond relies on.
2D acid-mine-drainage reactor with real pyrite-oxidation kinetics (FeS2 + O2 + H2O → Fe2+ + SO4²- + H+), Ksp-based metal-hydroxide solubility ceilings for Fe(OH)2 and Fe(OH)3, and lime (Ca(OH)2) neutralization chemistry, tracked live on a pH-vs-time chart and a log-scale dissolved-metal chart.
