Therapeutic Ultrasound: Tissue Heating Simulator

Interactive 3D model of therapeutic ultrasound: watch acoustic energy attenuate through skin, fat and muscle and heat tissue at depth. Adjust frequency, intensity, duty cycle and applicator position and read live peak temperature, penetration depth and treatment time.

Therapeutic ultrasound is one of the oldest deep-heating modalities in physical therapy: a handheld applicator radiates high-frequency acoustic energy into skin, fat and muscle, and the tissue's own absorption converts that energy into heat at depth. This simulator renders a real voxel block of layered tissue and drives every voxel's temperature from the same physics a clinician relies on — frequency-dependent attenuation, a Gaussian beam profile, and perfusion-mediated cooling — so switching from 1 MHz to 3 MHz visibly moves the hot zone from deep muscle to the skin surface. Adjust intensity, duty cycle and applicator position and watch peak temperature, penetration depth and elapsed treatment time update live, exactly as it would on a real ultrasound unit.
