Hepatic Segmental Anatomy: Couinaud Resection Planner
Interactive 3D Couinaud liver segment model: select a resection plan (right/left hepatectomy, sectionectomy) or toggle individual segments I-VIII, trace the portal-vein and hepatic-vein territories, and watch the Future Liver Remnant percentage update live.
The liver is functionally divided into eight Couinaud segments, each with its own portal vein, hepatic artery and bile duct inflow and its own hepatic vein outflow — the anatomical basis for planning a liver resection. This simulator renders a stylized 3D liver split into segments I-VIII with their portal and hepatic venous territories, lets you load standard resection plans (right hepatectomy, left hepatectomy, extended right trisectionectomy, left lateral sectionectomy) or build a custom plan by toggling individual segments, and tracks the resulting Future Liver Remnant percentage against the ~25-30% safety floor surgeons use to avoid post-hepatectomy liver failure.
Interactive 3D Couinaud liver segment model: load a standard resection plan or toggle segments I-VIII individually, trace the portal-vein and hepatic-vein territories, and watch the Future Liver Remnant percentage update live.
