2D Origami Crane Crease Pattern

Step through the real crease pattern of a folded-paper crane: flat mountain/valley fold lines computed from square geometry, from the blank sheet to the finished bird base, neck, head and wings.

This 2D companion to the 3D origami crane simulation shows the actual flat crease pattern behind the fold: a square sheet gains its diagonal and median creases (the preliminary base), collapses into a four-flap diamond, then two opposite flaps are petal-folded — an exact geometric reflection across each flap's own symmetry axis — into a thin neck and tail while the other two flaps rotate outward into wings. Step through the seven stages with the slider or Next/Prev buttons, or press auto-play to watch the fold sequence run on its own, with mountain and valley fold lines drawn in the standard origami-diagram convention at every step.
