Metamaterials are artificially structured materials whose sub-wavelength geometry — not their chemistry — determines how they respond to waves. This simulator builds a periodic lattice of split-ring resonator unit cells and fires a wave pulse train at it from outside. Tune the drive frequency against the ring's own resonance, reshape the rings, and change how many layers deep the lattice is to see the effective refractive index swing negative and the transmitted beam bend to the "wrong" side of the normal — the opposite of what the pale reference slab does right next to it.
