Dimensional stability is a material's ability to keep its size and shape under load, heat and time. This simulator drives a virtual tensile bar with an adjustable load, expressed as a percentage of the chosen material's yield strength, and an adjustable temperature. Below the yield point the bar stretches elastically and would spring back if unloaded; past it, plastic deformation and creep accumulate permanently even while the load stays constant. Thermal expansion adds a further, fully reversible strain on top. Switch between steel, aluminum, a creep-prone polymer and a highly elastic rubber to see how stiffness, yield strength, thermal expansion coefficient and creep rate each shape the same underlying physics differently.
