Plasmonic Slot Waveguide: Dispersion & Field Map (2D)
2D companion to the plasmonic MIM waveguide: solves the same complex gap-plasmon dispersion relation independently, but plots the full n_eff(d)/propagation-length dispersion curve live and renders the propagating field as a 2D intensity heatmap instead of a 3D scene.
The 3D twin of this simulator renders a single instantaneous 3D scene of the gap-plasmon mode. This 2D companion solves the identical complex transcendental MIM dispersion relation with its own independent Newton–Raphson solver, but shows two things the 3D scene cannot: a live dispersion diagram sweeping the entire gap-width range so you can see the whole neff(d) and propagation-length curve at once, and a true 2D field-intensity heatmap of the propagating gap plasmon, rendered pixel by pixel rather than as discrete bars. It also surfaces a subtlety the 3D bars don't make explicit: the fundamental mode's transverse profile is not flat — it bows outward and peaks at the metal walls, with the size of that bow tracked live as a wall-to-center field ratio.
2D companion to the plasmonic MIM waveguide: solves the same complex gap-plasmon dispersion relation independently, but plots the full n_eff(d)/propagation-length dispersion curve live across the whole gap range and renders the propagating field as a genuine 2D intensity heatmap instead of a 3D scene.
