The spin Hall effect converts an ordinary unpolarized charge current into a pure transverse spin current with no external magnetic field, purely through spin–orbit coupling inside a heavy metal like platinum or tungsten. This simulator renders a thin metal film as a 3D slab, drives spin-up and spin-down carriers through it, and lets spin–orbit skew scattering deflect them toward opposite edges exactly as the spin Hall angle θSH dictates — you can watch the spin accumulation build and relax at each edge in real time, switch materials to compare Pt against the much larger and oppositely-signed angle of β-W, and flip to the inverse spin Hall effect to see a pumped spin current converted back into the transverse charge voltage used to detect it in real spintronics labs.
