🧪 Environmental Habitat Restoration Simulation
Interactive 3D restoration plot: control native planting, invasive-species pressure and soil recovery effort and watch a degraded landscape pass through real stages of ecological succession as canopy cover, biodiversity and returning wildlife respond.
This simulation models the process of restoring a degraded plot of land to a functioning ecosystem. A 3D grid of 324 plots each carries its own successional stage and soil-health value, advancing from bare ground through pioneer grasses and shrubs to young and mature forest as native species are reintroduced and soil health recovers — while invasive species spread and compete for the same ground. Control native planting rate, invasive-species pressure and soil restoration effort, and watch canopy cover, a Shannon biodiversity index, and ten indicator wildlife species respond in real time as the ecosystem recovers or stalls.
This simulation demonstrates the process of restoring degraded habitats to their natural state. Users will learn about techniques for reintroducing native plant species and wildlife, and monitoring ecosystem recovery.
