How beekeeping supports crop yields, orchard fruit set and vegetable garden productivity, plus what commercial pollination contracts involve.

A hive stands beside an orchard row, a vegetable plot or a wildflower border, and its foraging bees fly out to visit flowers — turning grey buds gold and red as pollination advances toward a full fruit or seed set.

🔬 What It Demonstrates

Hive distance, colony strength, hive count and competing wild pollinators all combine to determine how many flower visits happen per minute, and therefore how much of the crop actually sets fruit.

🎮 How to Use

Choose a planting type, then adjust hive distance, colony strength, hive count and wild-pollinator pressure. Watch the visit rate and fruit/seed-set estimate respond as bees fly between the hive and the crop.

💡 Did You Know?

Commercial growers often rent in hives at a set density per hectare purely for the bloom window, because poor pollination shows up as smaller, lopsided fruit long before it shows up as fewer fruit.

⚙ Under the hood

A 3D orchard row, vegetable plot or wildflower border where bees fly out from a configurable hive and pollinate flowers, turning grey buds into ripening fruit or seed heads as visit rate rises.
