Sequence Stratigraphy — Walther's Law & Sea-Level Cycles

Interactive 3D sequence-stratigraphy simulator: tune eustatic sea-level cycles, subsidence and sediment supply and watch a stratigraphic wedge build up, with live systems-tract classification (LST/TST/HST/FSST) and Walther's Law made visible.

This simulator builds a real stratigraphic cross-section from first principles: an oscillating eustatic sea level, a subsiding basin floor and a controllable sediment-supply rate combine into an accommodation budget that decides, timestep by timestep, whether the shoreline advances or retreats. Watch the wedge of sediment grow as inclined, color-coded facies bands — fluvial sand near the source, shoreface and shallow-marine belts in the middle, hemipelagic mud far offshore — and read the live systems-tract classification (falling-stage, lowstand, transgressive, highstand) that real petroleum geologists use to correlate rock layers across a basin. The vertical stacking pattern you see is a direct, hands-on demonstration of Walther's Law of facies.
