Plate Tectonics (2D): Boundaries, Subduction & Earthquakes
A cross-section of two tectonic plates on a plain canvas. Pick a divergent, convergent, collision, transform or hotspot boundary, set the plate speed, and watch seafloor spreading, subduction, mountain building and earthquakes unfold over geological time.
This 2D companion keeps the same boundary mechanics as the 3D original — divergent spreading, subduction, continental collision, transform faults and hotspots — as a plain cross-section canvas so seafloor-spread, subducted-crust and mountain-height readouts are easy to read at a glance.
Each boundary type accumulates a scenario-specific metric (spread, subducted crust or mountain height) from the plate-speed slider, drives magma and mantle-convection particles, and fires earthquakes probabilistically along the boundary, scaling with plate speed.
