This simulator turns the story of human evolution into a running population-genetics model. A grid of hominid figures each carries a single adaptive trait — a stand-in for real composite traits like brain size (encephalization) or upright posture (bipedalism) — and every generation the population is re-sampled with a bias toward fitter individuals, then mutated slightly. Tune population size, selection pressure and mutation rate to see how each one shapes whether the population's average trait climbs steadily toward "modern human," drifts randomly, or stalls, echoing the evolutionary pressures described in the article on early hominids, the genus Homo, and Homo sapiens.
