Two homologous chromosome pairs are carried through a full, geometrically accurate meiosis — prophase condensation, metaphase I alignment, anaphase I homolog separation, cytokinesis, metaphase II alignment and anaphase II sister-chromatid separation — ending in four haploid gametes.
