ASTERION: Hypotrochoid Drawing Machine

🎮 How to play

Drag to orbit, wheel / pinch to zoom; use the panel to play, reverse, change speed and pen offset, lift the stylus, explode the assembly, show guides, or erase the paper.

A gear-driven drawing machine: a 36-tooth planet rolls inside a fixed 96-tooth ring and its eccentric pen draws live hypotrochoid rosettes on paper. Real constraint equations, adjustable pen offset, speed, reverse, stylus lift and an exploded view. Idealised rigid-body model.
