Screw Mechanical Advantage Simulator (2D)

Interactive 2D cross-section of a screw: adjust thread pitch, screw diameter and load force to see the mechanical advantage (circumference / pitch), the effort force required, and how many turns it takes to advance the screw.

This 2D simulator shows a screw as a cross-section: an inclined plane (the thread) wrapped around a cylindrical shaft. Adjust the thread pitch and screw diameter to see the mechanical advantage change live, watch a small effort force turning the screw's circumference drive a much larger load force forward by just one pitch per turn, and read off exactly how much force is needed and how many turns it takes to advance the screw by a fixed distance.

⚙ Under the hood

An interactive 2D cross-section of a screw that computes mechanical advantage from thread pitch and diameter, showing the effort force needed to drive a given load.
