🔬 What It Demonstrates

Brood-nest growth is capped by whichever reserve — energy or protein — is scarcer, not by their average. A colony flooded with syrup but short on pollen still stalls, and vice versa.

🎮 How to Use

Set syrup rate, toggle the pollen patty, dial in a cold-snap severity to delay natural forage, and pick a starting colony strength. Fast-forward the calendar and watch the brood nest, reserves and bee population respond.

UK beekeepers feed 1:1 syrup and pollen substitute through late winter and early spring specifically to bridge this gap — not for a honey crop, but to keep brood rearing going until hawthorn and oilseed rape open.
