🐝 Pollination Contract Coverage Map (2D)
A top-down orchard block where you place hive pallets by stocking density, watch each tree's bloom coverage fade from green to red with distance from the nearest pallet, and read live contract revenue and yield outlook as forage range and colony strength change.
This 2D companion drives the same hive-placement mechanic as the 3D orchard through a flat, readable top-down map: hive pallets sit around the block edge, each tree's canopy is colour-coded from red to green by how far it falls inside the nearest pallet's effective forage range, and animated bee dots trace the actual foraging discs so gaps in coverage are visible at a glance instead of buried in a rotating scene.
🔬 What It Demonstrates
Pollination adequacy depends on stocking density, forage range and colony strength together — not any one number alone. Sparse or weak hives leave gaps between coverage discs, and the trees in those gaps stay red-tinted, set fruit poorly regardless of how good the contract price looks.
🎮 How to Use
Pick a crop, set the rental rate, then adjust stocking density, forage range and colony strength. Watch pallets redistribute, coverage discs and tree colours respond immediately, and check block revenue and yield outlook update live in the readout panel.
💡 Did You Know?
Blueberries need far higher hive densities than tree fruit — bees find blueberry flowers less rewarding than competing wildflowers, so growers often stock 4–6 colonies per acre versus roughly 1–2 for almonds or apples.
2D top-down orchard-coverage lab: hive pallets are placed by stocking density, tree-by-tree coverage fraction is computed from distance to the nearest pallet against an effective forage range, and block revenue and yield outlook update live from the same formulas as the 3D version.
