This simulator models a real personal fall-arrest system used on scaffolds, roofs and steel structures: a worker on a lanyard or self-retracting lifeline falls freely until the device engages, then decelerates as the energy absorber deploys. Adjust the free-fall distance, worker mass, absorber deceleration distance and anchor height, then drop the worker to see the impact velocity, the average arrest force against the OSHA 1926.502 8 kN limit, and whether the total required fall clearance actually fits beneath the anchor point before the worker would strike the ground or the next level down.
