⚙ Under the hood
A drop-weight impact tester: brittle porcelain, glass, ice and concrete fail by Weibull flaw statistics and impact speed (stress-wave model, size effect, Rosin-Rammler fragment sizes from an energy balance), while ductile lead and aluminium absorb the energy as plastic strain. A Monte-Carlo sweep compares the measured 50 % break height with the closed-form prediction.
