Mine Shaft Hoisting: Skip Winder Dynamics (2D)

2D side-view mine hoist simulator: a rope-and-drum skip winder runs a real accel-limited trapezoidal velocity profile up and down the shaft while Newton's second law drives live rope tension and motor power readouts every frame.

This 2D companion drives a real skip-hoist controller: a drum winder cycles load → ascend → dump → descend under an accel-limited (bang-bang) speed profile, braking exactly one braking-distance out so the skip stops on target. Rope tension follows Newton's second law, T = m(g − a), rising above static weight while accelerating the load upward and easing below it on the way down — visible live in the tension and power bars beside the shaft.
