Solar Array Shading Loss Simulator (2D)

2D plan-view simulator of near-shading on a photovoltaic array: drag an obstruction around a row of six bypass-diode substrings and watch a small shadow trigger a disproportionate power loss, computed from real sun-position equations and a series-string mismatch model.

The 3D original computes the physics of a single unobstructed panel — sun position, angle of incidence and the daily power curve for any tilt and azimuth. This 2D companion asks the question a clean sky-view can't answer: what happens when something stands in the way? A top-down plan view tracks an obstruction's shadow sweeping across a six-substring array through the day, and because each substring carries its own bypass diode — the same protection real modules use — even a shadow far smaller than the array itself can knock out a disproportionate share of its power. The live bar chart and the naive-vs-actual loss readouts make that nonlinearity, easy to state but hard to picture, directly visible.
