Methane Pyrolysis Reactor 2D — Turquoise Hydrogen Production
2D plug-flow methane-pyrolysis reactor: watch CH4 crack into solid carbon and H2 gas with no CO2 byproduct while a live Arrhenius conversion curve tracks temperature, feed rate and catalyst choice side by side with the particle view.
Methane pyrolysis cracks CH4 straight into hydrogen gas and solid carbon in a single step, skipping the CO2 emissions of conventional steam-methane reforming — the reaction chemists call "turquoise hydrogen." This 2D simulator renders a real horizontal plug-flow reactor side-on: methane particles enter one end, and each one is assigned a reaction time sampled from the Arrhenius rate constant k(T) for the chosen catalyst. A companion chart plots the entire conversion-versus-temperature curve for the current catalyst and feed rate, with a live marker showing exactly where the reactor sits — so you can see not just the current numbers but the whole shape of the trade-off. Raise the temperature or switch from bare thermal cracking to a nickel or carbon-bed catalyst and watch the curve shift, the hydrogen output rate climb and the pile of solid carbon grow exactly as first-order plug-flow kinetics predict, while the feed-rate slider trades residence time for throughput — the same balance real reactor engineers strike.
