Mediator-Assisted Indirect Electrolysis (3D)
A real 3D pathway simulation of redox-shuttle electrocatalysis — mediator spheres carry electrons between an electrode plane and a substrate cluster spaced along one axis, changing color as they cycle between oxidized and reduced states, with live faradaic efficiency, turnover number and cell voltage computed from the chosen mediator's real standard potential.
A dissolved redox mediator ferries electrons between an electrode too far or too mismatched to react with a substrate directly, and that substrate itself. This 3D simulator renders the two-step catalytic cycle — fast heterogeneous electron transfer at the electrode, then homogeneous electron transfer to the substrate in bulk — as a real spatial pathway: an electrode plane on one side, a substrate cluster on the other, connected by mediator spheres that physically travel between them and change color as they swap between oxidized and reduced states.
Ports the 2D original's real mediator library — TEMPO/TEMPO⁺ (E° +0.75 V vs SCE), Br⁻/Br⁺ (+0.85 V), Cl⁻/Cl⁺ (+1.10 V) and Fc/Fc⁺ (+0.40 V) — into a continuously computed 3D model: faradaic efficiency is derived live from the potential-matching margin against a fixed substrate potential (0.55 V vs SCE), mediator loading and the target current density, then drives a real orbitable particle field with a live turnover-number counter.
