Memory doesn't fade at a constant rate — it decays fastest right after learning and then levels off, the classic Ebbinghaus forgetting curve. This simulator runs that decay live and repeatedly interrupts it with short micro-sessions timed by the review-interval slider, each one lifting retention back up and slowing the next decay a little more (the spacing effect). A second curve, plotted for direct comparison, shows what happens to the same total study time spent in one massed session instead: it decays continuously with no reinforcement. Adjust the review interval, micro-session length and simulation speed to see which schedule keeps retention above the forgetting threshold for longest.
