Fiscal Policy Lab
Interactive fiscal-policy simulator: set tax rate, spending and interest rate to watch budget deficit or surplus feed a growing national-debt tower year by year, and fire a spending shock to see the 1/(1-MPC) multiplier ripple through GDP round by round.
This simulator turns the mechanics of budget policy into something you can watch happen. Two bars track government revenue and spending live; whenever spending outruns revenue the deficit is borrowed and stacks onto a debt tower year after year, with a marker at the 60%-of-GDP line economists often cite as a safety threshold. A separate control lets you fire a one-off spending shock and watch the 1/(1−MPC) multiplier play out as a sequence of expanding, diminishing rounds — the same round-by-round re-spending that turns a $100bn outlay into a much larger GDP move.
Set tax rate, spending and interest rate to watch budget deficit or surplus feed a growing national-debt tower year by year, then fire a spending shock and watch the 1/(1-MPC) multiplier ripple through GDP round by round.
