The EU's Carbon Border Adjustment Mechanism (CBAM) puts a price on the carbon embedded in imported steel, cement, fertilizer, aluminium, hydrogen and electricity — so a foreign producer can no longer undercut EU manufacturers simply by running dirtier factories. This simulation drives shipments from producers of varying carbon intensity toward an EU border checkpoint that calculates each one's certificate cost from the emissions gap, the carbon price and the shrinking free-allocation exemption, then decides whether the goods clear customs or get turned back as no longer competitive.
