🛢️ Dutch Disease: Currency Crowding-Out Simulator (2D)
2D bar-and-chart Dutch disease lab: a resource-export boom appreciates the currency, pricing out manufacturing and farming until they hollow out, then a triggered price crash shows how fast the currency snaps back versus how slowly the hollowed-out sectors rebuild.
This 2D companion drives the same currency-appreciation and hysteresis-capacity equations as the 3D version through a plain bar-chart reading built for the numbers rather than a rig-and-factory scene: a side panel exposes the resource-boom slider, playback speed and a price-crash trigger, three bars track resource output against manufacturing and agriculture capacity in real time, a currency gauge shows the exchange rate climbing on forex inflows, and a rolling line chart traces all four readouts — currency, resource share, competitiveness and diversification — so the asymmetry between fast erosion and slow rebuild is directly visible instead of implied.
2D Dutch disease lab with the same currency-appreciation, competitiveness and hysteresis-capacity model as the 3D version, shown as live bars, a currency gauge and a rolling four-line chart.
