Precision Agriculture: Variable-Rate Application Simulator

Fly a scanning drone over a field of variable soil need in a boustrophedon sweep and compare variable-rate application against uniform blanket spraying. Tune soil variability, sensor zone resolution and drone speed to see the resource savings.

Precision agriculture combines RTK-GPS, soil and plant sensors, drone NDVI surveys and machine learning to treat every part of a field according to what it actually needs, instead of spraying the whole field at one blanket rate. This simulator makes that comparison concrete: a scanning drone sweeps a field of soil cells whose true fertilizer or water need varies across the ground, revealing and dosing each cell as it passes. In variable-rate mode the dose follows the average need measured within each sensor zone; in uniform mode every cell gets the same maximum dose regardless of need. Tune soil variability, sensor zone resolution and drone speed, and toggle between the two modes to see how much resource — and environmental impact — precision application saves.
