Urban Apiary Siting Simulator
Interactive urban apiary siting simulator: click to place a hive on a city courtyard/rooftop plot and see buffer-distance conflicts with paths and windows, forage reachable within flight range, and whether the flight corridor stays clear of people.
Placing a hive in a city courtyard or on a rooftop is a spatial trade-off, not just a biology question: a spot has to keep enough buffer distance from footpaths and windows to avoid startling neighbours or passers-by, while still sitting within realistic reach of the parks and street trees that supply nectar and pollen. This simulator renders a small urban block — a paved path, a facade of windows, and scattered green patches at varying distance — and lets you click anywhere on the plot to test a hive location. It reports buffer clearance against the path and windows, a forage score built from the green patches reachable within typical flight range, and whether the recommended launch corridor manages to avoid the footpath entirely.
Click to place a hive on a city courtyard or rooftop plot and see live buffer-distance conflicts with footpaths and windows, a forage-reachability score from nearby parks and trees, and whether the recommended flight corridor stays clear of people.
